A DESPERATE BEAUTY
Despite fame and countless admirers, actress Marcail Beauchamp has never forgotten William Hurst, the audacious seafarer she once loved . . . and lost. Now, forced by a mysterious blackmailer who threatens her family, she must steal an ancient onyx box from the one man she’s vowed never to see again.

A BOLD ADVENTURER
To save his brother from a ruthless abductor, William must deliver the artifact as ransom. He’s stunned when Marcail, more lovely than ever, suddenly appears on his ship. But when she drugs him and steals the box, his fury knows no bounds.

THE TREASURE EVERYONE WANTS
William pursues Marcail, but too late: she has already delivered the box. The estranged lovers realize they must work together—both to regain the artifact that could mean life or death to his family and to destroy the mysterious blackmailer’s power over her family. Thus begins a high-stakes quest through the reaches of Scotland, a quest that stirs up long-forgotten memories and an unquenchable passion. . . .

My Thoughts:

This was my first time reading Karen Hawkins, and I have to say it won't be my last!  I've actually gone and picked up the first book in this series!!  When I initially picked this book, I didn't realize it was part of a series - and I have to say I loved the first book too!

William's brother is being held prisoner in Egypt until a certain object -  a gold and onyx box - is returned in exchange for his brother's release.  Unfortunately this object is stolen from William as he is leaving port.  A young woman from his past Marcail is the culprit!

I love the chemistry between these two characters.  They have a past, once lovers - who didn't part well.  They are reunited, actually thrown together by fate.  William tracks Marcail down to retrieve the box, but ends up rekindling some old feelings.  These two have great banter and a few hot steamy interludes!

We also meet Mary and her husband Angus - from the first book in the series "One Night in Scotland".
As well, we meet Robert Hurst and Moira Muir the characters from the third book in the series "Seduced in Scotland" that comes out in October!

I couldn't put this book down, it had me hooked from page 1 until the very last sentence!

Highly recommended!

Interview: Marie Claremont & Giveaway!

2011 Golden Heart winner Máire Claremont first fell in love with Mr. Rochester, not Mr. Darcy. Drawn to his dark snark, she longed to find a tortured hero of her own… until she realized the ramifications of Mr. Rochester locking his frst wife up in his attic. Discovering the errors of her ways, Máire now looks for a real-life Darcy and creates deliciously dark heroes on the page. Oh, and she wants everyone to know her name is pronounced Moira. Her parents just had to give her an Irish Gaelic name.
