Synopsis:

Special Agent Meghan Connors’ dream of one day protecting the president of the United States is about to come true. Only one assignment stands in her way. After the vice president’s rebellious daughter is threatened, Meghan is assigned to her protective detail on a secluded ranch in West Texas.

Unfortunately, working with Special Agent in Charge Ash Zinders may be as tough as controlling her charge. Ash has a reputation for being critical and exacting, and he’s also after the same promotion as Meghan. But when the threats escalate and security on the ranch is breached, it becomes clear this isn’t the work of a single suspect—it’s part of a sophisticated plan that reaches deeper and higher than anyone imagined. And only Ash and Meghan can put the pieces together before it’s too late.
Brought on as part of the six agent team to protect the Vice President's troublesome daughter Lindsay, Meghan is the only woman on the team.  Unfortunately for Meghan, the Agent in Charge Ash is controlling and dislikes female agents.  With all the threats, a breach in security and the loss of an agent, Ash and Meghan have to learn to get along.  These two characters have some amazing chemistry!

Lindsay not only has drug and alcohol issues, she's being controlled by someone who is not only trying to hurt her but her family.  She has to get herself together and trust the agents to save not only herself, but them and her father.

This was an amazing story!  We not only have a budding romance between Ash and Meghan but we have murder, mayhem and secrets.  DiAnn Mills wove all these elements into a fantastic story that I couldn't put down.  I loved the tension between the characters, and how they overcame their demons and worked together.  I've always been a fan of Romantic Suspense, and this is definitely one I'll be adding to my own collection of books.

Anyone who enjoys a bit of murder, mystery, secrets and a dash of love on the side will enjoy this book.  I will be adding DiAnn Mills to my list of authors to keep an eye out for!

A Day in the Life of.. Anne Barton

Welcome to Stitch Read Cook's weekly feature!! A Day in the Life of..... This is where us bloggers & fans get a glimpse inside the days of our favorite authors!   -------------------- Anne Barton started swiping romances from her mom’s bookshelf as a teenager and decided historicals (with their balls, dukes, and gowns) were the best. So, when she had the chance to spend a semester in London she packed her bags—and promptly fell in love with the city, its history, and its pubs. She dreamed of writing romance, but somehow ended up a software analyst instead. Fortunately, a few years and a few careers later, Anne found her way back to writing the stories she loves and won the Romance Writers of America’s Golden Heart® for Regency Historical Romance. She lives in Maryland with her husband and three children, who try valiantly not to roll their eyes whenever she quotes Jane Austen. Her weaknesses include reality TV, cute-but-impractical shoes, and coffee. Lots and l...
