Synopsis:

A wave of hope carries Olivia Frost back to her small New England hometown nestled in the beautiful Swift River Valley. She's transforming a historic home into an idyllic getaway. Picturesque and perfect, if only the absentee owner will fix up the eyesore next door.…

Dylan McCaffrey's ramshackle house is an inheritance he never counted on. It also holds the key to a generations-old lost treasure he can't resist…any more than he can resist his new neighbor. Against this breathtaking landscape, Dylan and Olivia pursue long-buried secrets and discover a mystery wrapped in a love story…past and present.

Olivia has returned to her hometown to transform her beautiful historic home into a retreat, some place she can share with friends, family and colleagues.  The only thing standing in her way of perfection is the run down, garbage filled house and yard next door.  After writing polite but firm letter, she hopes that it will be remedied before her grand opening.

Dylan's life is exactly the way he likes it; all that changes when a letter throws a wrench in it.  He had no idea he had inherited a house from his father, a treasure hunter.  Dylan can't figure out what attracted his father to this house and the small town nearby.

Both Olivia and Dylan have some obstacles to overcome in this story.  Olivia was betrayed by who she thought was a close friend, and decided it was finally time to leave the big city.  But can she get over the betrayal and move on with her life?  Dylan never understood his father's obsession with treasure hunting, when he finally opens the truck left to him; will he finally be able to understand it all?

I really enjoyed this book; part romance and part mystery.  Olivia and Dylan are left with an old mystery to deal with.  One that neither of them can stop thinking about.  Is the house the key to it all?  Or is it under the waters of the man made lake that swallowed several towns many years ago?

Can they both finally admit to the chemistry between them?  With so many things going on with her family, his business and everything in between; can they make it work?

Such a unique contemporary romance and mystery - definitely one I'll read again!  This was a first by this author for me, but Carla Neggers had easily earned a spot on my bookshelf and I'll be looking for more books by her.  For those who enjoy something a bit different from the normal contemporary romance - this one is for you.

Interview: Marie Claremont & Giveaway!

2011 Golden Heart winner Máire Claremont first fell in love with Mr. Rochester, not Mr. Darcy. Drawn to his dark snark, she longed to find a tortured hero of her own… until she realized the ramifications of Mr. Rochester locking his frst wife up in his attic. Discovering the errors of her ways, Máire now looks for a real-life Darcy and creates deliciously dark heroes on the page. Oh, and she wants everyone to know her name is pronounced Moira. Her parents just had to give her an Irish Gaelic name. I adore the contrasts. The absolute morality of the time veiled so much going on underneath. It was a time of secrets. And on a shallow note, I adore the gowns. 2.  Tell us somet...
