My life, in pictures.

Well, not all my days are exactly the same, but this is what most weekdays are like in my life.

7:30 AM

I wake up to this

Day in the life 1

8:00 AM

I'm kind of a coffee snob. This is the only way to drink coffee. Filters take away all the flavorful oils!

Day in the life 2

I take mine sweet as sin and black as night.

9:00 AM

I get to go to work at the most amazing place in the world, doing the most amazing job in the world.

Day in the life 3

Yep, I'm an event coordinator for my county public library!

12:00 noon

Lunch time! Of course, I'm doing social media and catching up on author-related emails during the break, too.

Day in the life 4

And no, I don't have pizza for lunch every day. Unfortunatley.

1:00 PM

Did I mention I have an awesome job?

New York Public Library

Note: This is not my library. A girl can dream.

6:30 PM

I get home and eat a quick, small dinner while doing some of my freelance work. And hydrate. I drink a ridiculous amount of water.

Day in the life 6

THROUGHOUT THE DAY

I do social media on my cell phone when I'm waiting for someone, in line at the store, on the toilet (no lie!).

Day in the life 7

Since I don't have much time for reading, I listen to audiobooks while I drive around.

Day in the life 8

7:30 PM

3-5 nights per week, I play wallyball.

Day in the life 9

Wallyball is volleyball, played inside a racquetball court. It helps me stay in shape, which is imperative when you spend as much time as I do hunched over a computer!

10:00 PM

I get home and do whatever chores need to be done.

day in the life 10

Though, of course, I get more done in the 15 minutes before someone comes over to the apartment than I do all the rest of the week.

10:30 PM

day in the life 11

yep. Wallyball is a sweaty, dirty sport.

11:00 PM

Finally! Some time to write!

Day in the life 12

I also usually eat a second, small dinner.

~ 1:00 AM

I go to bed after I meet a pre-determined goal, or until I can't deny this "cuddle me" face any longer.

Day in the life 13

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gretchen and her twin brother, Hank, were abandoned to a zombie horde when they were five years old. Intended to be a sacrifice by their zealot parents, they were instead rescued by The Company. Raised to become soldiers in the war against zombies, they now provide safe passage through danger zones, one contract at a time.

Clint's only skill is war, but he's weary of killing other men. When his contract with the Marines runs out, he takes a job on Gretchen's team, hoping that the search-and-rescue life will suit him better.

On Clint's second day, their four-man team is attacked, drugged, and taken to a prison full of frightened civilians. The only way in or out is by helicopter and, here, their enemies are human. One by one, the captives are culled from the holding area. Rumors say the facility director uses the prisoners as experimental subjects for the testing of a zombie cure.

When Hank is taken, Clint and Gretchen must put aside their personal feelings and find a way out of the prison, surrounded by thousands of starving zombies, before Hank becomes just one more disposable guinea pig in the hands of a twisted mad woman.

  4. I think I need to get a coffee pot like you have. Maybe all those flavorful oils are what give you the energy it takes to live your busy life. I wish I had your get up and go! Once Upon a Darkness sounds great. Can wait to read it.

  5. I'm not much for zombie stories (I have some issues about zombie) but once in awhile a zombie story would catch my eyes and I would read it. Once Upon a Darkness is one zombie story I would read. Thanks for the interview.

A Day in the Life of… Stefanie Sloane (& Giveaway!)

Welcome to Stitch Read Cook's weekly feature!! A Day in the Life of..... This is where us bloggers & fans get a glimpse inside the days of our favorite authors! -------------------- A native Northwesterner with the pale skin to prove it, Stefanie Sloane credits her parents’ eclectic reading habits—not to mention their decision to live in the middle of nowhere—for her love of books. A childhood spent lost in the pages of countless novels led Stefanie to college, where she majored in English. No one was more surprised than Stefanie when she actually put her degree to use and landed a job in Amazon.com’s editorial department. She spent more than five years reading for a living before retiring to concentrate on her own stories. Stefanie Sloane lives with her family in Seattle.
