Life in General

It seems the last few weeks life had kept me pretty busy.  We're in the midst of bathroom remodeling/renovations.  Which *crosses fingers* should be done in the next week or so.  The new tile floor is done and grouted.  The new fancy tile shower is all done, just needs the grout done.  My darling other half is putting up the door casing and the baseboard today!  Which means my washing machine can finally move out of the basement into our apartment!! YAY!!  Currently I have to go outside, down a set of stairs, through the workshop to get to the laundry room.  This will be a definate improvement! I've been slowly working on my Harpa Socks  and my first top down sweater Red "Oatmeal" Pullover  which is coming along quite nicely, but sadly won't be done for the end of the Olympics tonight. We have been dog sitting for the last two weeks.  Mike's Dad went to Tortola in the British Virgin Islands for a holiday.  We have his Mastiff, her name is Blue.  She's a

Socks were a success!!

I am just about done my Mom's socks.  I have a couple of rows left to do on the toe.  Unfortunately I didn't have them both done for dinner last night at my parents place.  So I wrapped up the finished sock and gave her that with a note that the other would follow in a couple of days LOL.  She loved it. I've also been working on another pair of socks.  The Harpa Socks  in Knitpicks Essenital "Russet Tweed".  So far I've got the cuff done and I've started on the heel flap.  They are really neat ankle socks! There is another pattern I've been eye-balling.  And I've got the perfect yarn for it! Oatmeal Pullover  by Jane Richmond.  I had originally started using this yarn for a giant granny square blanket I was constructing.. but I saw this and all that went out the window!  This is the yarn Red Yarn . I've also got some nice navy blue, pale blue and a rich cream colour that this sweater could be made into.. I think I might have to make a few

Rethinking..

I'm rethinking my pattern.. I tried 4 times today to cast it on and and knit a few rows, but ended up pulling it apart and knotting and cutting a section of the lovely yarn that I got.  Which sucks. So.. I have been going through my pattern books, magazines and ravelry to find a much simpler pattern for my first venture into lace.  I will retry this pattern with the gorgeous lace yarn I got once I've gotten past the frustrated first time attempt. On a side note my magic loop socks are just about done.  I'm just finishing up the foot and toe on the second sock! I'll post pictures tomorrow when I've got it all done! Hmm socks, maybe I can find a nice lace sock pattern? *off to hunt more*

Boring few days...

Since I've been relegated to 'bed' rest since I had my wisdom teeth removed last week I've had a lot of time to knit, watch tv and well sleep!  And of course do some online window shopping! hehe I am well underway with sock #2, I started the heel flap this afternoon. My lace yarn also arrived today :) Which is totally awesome!  I unpacked it all and rolled it into a nice ball.. boy did it take forever!  I didn't realize 700yrd would take 3 hours to wind up.. I made my 1st attempt at casting on, but well I ended up tearing it out.  It just well didn't look right! It says to CO 66 sts and knit across, which I took as cast on 66 (obviously) and knit the next row... but then it says: Row 1 (on right side) sl1, k9.. etc Row 2 and all wrong side rows sl1 and purl.. Thoughts?  If I'm suppose to cast on and then knit across, I'd be on the wrong side wouldn't I? Maybe I'll go back to my socks and try again tomorrow.... Only a few more days le

Sock #1 is DONE!

Last night I finished sock #1 and cast on sock #2! Looks very cool :) What do you think?
