This weeks question:  What book that hasn't been turned into a movie (yet) would you most like to see make it to the big screen, and who would you like cast as your favorite character?

Hmm, that's a touch question.. There are so many amazing books out there that would make INCREDIBLE movies!!  I'd love to see Andy McDermott's Nina & Eddie series made into movies - they are so much fun and full of history and action.

I'd love to see Skye O'Malley by Bertrice Small made into a movie!! It is a historical romance and might be a bit difficult because of some of the content - but she is such an incredible character and the story is so amazing.  All of Bertrice's books are amazing - any of them would make great movies.

Another book I'd love to see as a movie would be the The Alchemyst (the Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel) by Michael Scott.  Such an awesome series - it's a YA paranormal, the most recent book the Warlock came out just recently!

Who would I cast... That's tough because there are some many amazing actors out there and so many coming into the industry.  Ideally I'd cast Lucy Lawless as Skye O'Malley (older Skye) - for Nina I'd probably pick Rachel Weisz (she did such an amazing job in the Mummy as an archeologist!) and Chris Hemsworth as Eddie.

This weeks question:  In honor of Banned Books Week, what is your favorite “banned or frequently challenged book”?

There are so many amazing books on the banned or frequently challenged list that I loved!  Example:  Water for Elephants, Anne Frank, Brave New World, and Catcher in the Rye.  We read quite a few books that were questionable in our high school English class (about 12 years ago) that now are on banned book lists.

Comments

  1. I remember the book "Go Ask Alice" being challenged often by the school librarian, thus making it a highly sought after book by us kids. That book alone scared me into never getting involved with drugs, so it's benefit far outweighed the concern surrounding it!

  2. I haven't read any of the books you chose to be made into movies, but I've heard good things about them! Great pick!

Book Tour: Bring Me Back by Karen Booth

I’m Karen, a Midwestern girl transplanted in the South, raised on 80s music, Judy Blume, and the films of John Hughes. An early preoccupation with Rock ‘n’ Roll led me to spend my twenties working my way from intern to executive in the music industry. Much of my writing revolves around the world of backstage passes and band dynamics. My first full-length novel, “Bring Me Back”, is a story I had in my head for nearly eight years before my fingers hit the keyboard. Sleeping and eating quickly became a luxury, a plan I have since dubbed the Writer’s Diet. I channeled teenage memories of plastering my walls with posters to weave the tale of music journalist, Claire Abby, and the dreamy British rock-star crush of her youth, Christopher Penman. “Bring Me Back” is a work of women’s fiction, published by Turquoise Morning Press. When I’m not creating fictional musicians, I’m listening to everything from old-school Cheap Trick to Duran Duran to Superchunk with my kids, honing my Southern
