Synopsis:

When urbane architect, Phil Williams, must bring a woman home to quell rumors he's gay, his only choice is the one woman least likely to impress: his dowdy receptionist.

Margot Manning has been secretly in love with Phil for years. She's just quit her job and is ready to begin her life anew as a nurse. Phil's outrageous offer is one she can't refuse.

As Margot readies to accompany Phil to his hometown, she steels herself for heartbreak. After Margot's makeover and a weekend spent attached at the hip, Phil admits he misjudged his former employee. He's ready to pursue her in earnest, if only her scandalous past didn't stand in their way.
I was totally thrilled with Christy contacted me to review “The Sweetheart Hoax”, as I loved the companion book “Heart of Glass”, which I reviewed last year.  With this story we get to see more of Danny’s business partner Phil.  In the small town of Echo, Phil is known as a bit of a ladies man. He likes gorgeous woman, with no baggage – but unfortunately for Phil they are few and far between.  After a few dates with his most recent fling they part ways; leaving him dateless for his father’s retirement party.

Margot has been Phil and Danny’s secretary for years.  She is preparing to give Phil her notice so she can study for her final nursing exam in a few weeks.  No matter how hard she tries she can’t seem to get Phil to sit still long enough to actually quit.  When she overhears Phil and Danny talking about her (something she shouldn’t have heard!) she has enough and finally is able to quit.  Feeling bad about the situation Phil tries (in his own way) to make things right.

I really enjoyed this book, I LOVED Margot, she is funny, smart and sexy (even though Phil didn’t see it initially).  Phil convinces Margot to do him a favor and fly to his hometown to be his fake girlfriend for the weekend to help stop a rumor going around that he is gay.  Phil is completely thrown by the transformation in Margot, from quiet secretary to sexy girlfriend.  With the attraction building between them can he keep his hands off her and not ruin their friendship?

These two have some fairly large obstacles to overcome to get their happily ever after.  Although they weren’t as big as Danny and Kate’s from “Heart of Glass”!  Between meddling parents, friends, a pain in the butt sister, a randy doctor and all sorts of other things – these two have so much to deal with and overcome.  One of the other things I liked about this book was that I got to see Danny and Kate again and how they are doing.

Would I recommend this book?  Most definitely!  If you are looking for a fresh, fun, easy to get into contemporary – then this is a book for you.  Will I read more by this author?  Oh definitely!  I already have a copy of “Dodge the Bullet” waiting on my e-reader for me!  Christy is an amazing author, and I can’t wait for more by her!

Book Tour: Bring Me Back by Karen Booth

I’m Karen, a Midwestern girl transplanted in the South, raised on 80s music, Judy Blume, and the films of John Hughes. An early preoccupation with Rock ‘n’ Roll led me to spend my twenties working my way from intern to executive in the music industry. Much of my writing revolves around the world of backstage passes and band dynamics. My first full-length novel, “Bring Me Back”, is a story I had in my head for nearly eight years before my fingers hit the keyboard. Sleeping and eating quickly became a luxury, a plan I have since dubbed the Writer’s Diet. I channeled teenage memories of plastering my walls with posters to weave the tale of music journalist, Claire Abby, and the dreamy British rock-star crush of her youth, Christopher Penman. “Bring Me Back” is a work of women’s fiction, published by Turquoise Morning Press. When I’m not creating fictional musicians, I’m listening to everything from old-school Cheap Trick to Duran Duran to Superchunk with my kids, honing my Southern
