Book Tour: The Carny by Brooke Moss

About the Author:

Brooke Moss is the name, contemporary romance, fantasy YA, and women's fiction are the game. Brooke writes complex, character-driven stories about kismet, reunited lovers, first love, and the kind of romance that we should all have the chance at finding. She prefers her stories laced with some humor just for fun, and enough drama to keep her readers flipping the pages, and begging for more! When Brooke isn't spinning tales, she spends her time drawing/cartooning, reading two books a week (ask her who her faves are), watching movies then comparing them to books, and, of course, wrangling four kids, one hubby she lovingly refers to as her "nerd", and attempting to conquer the Mount Everest of laundry that is the bane of her existence.” Find me elsewhere on the web here:

Take A Break…and Read

By Brooke Moss

Hi, and thanks for having me on the Stitch-Read-Cook Blog today! I’m so excited to get to know some of your readers, and to tell them all about my latest release from InkSpell Publishing, The Carny.

As many of my readers know, I am a full time wife and mother. I have four children ranging in age from 4 to 13, and I spend most of my time (when I’m not writing) wiping boogery noses, arguing with a tween about trips to the mall, and baking casseroles that might—or might not—turn out edible. Many of my readers are in the same boat. They’re either professionals who work 40+ hours a week, then crash with exhaustion when they get home, or they’re mom’s who are clipping coupons and changing Pull-Up’s.

Through reader emails and feedback, I often hear the same theme. I work all day, and came home exhausted…but reading your book was an escape. Or The kids ran me ragged today, but during naptime, I grabbed your book and started reading. I couldn’t put it down! It seems as though my novels are a fun little escape for the busy woman. I’ll take that description. There’s no shame in providing some escapism for some very deserving readers. In fact, there’s pride in it!

I hope that all of your readers, however busy they are, will allow themselves five, ten, fifteen—maybe even more—minutes to themselves. Curl up with your favorite drink and a good book. Get away from the chaos before bed and take your mind elsewhere. Live in a delicious book for a while. Escape. Doesn’t that sound lovely?

Ad in case any of your readers are looking for a nice book to curl up with during their break…here is a bit more about my latest release, The Carny:

“At a town fair on the coast of Oregon, handsome Native American carny, Vincent Youngblood, bestows an unforgettable kiss on shy, awkward teenager, Charlotte Davenport. Then he disappears without another word, leaving her baffled and enamored.

Ten years later, Charlotte is still living in the small fishing town of Astoria, while being trained to--reluctantly--take over for her philandering hotelier father when he retires. After all, who else will do it? Her two perfect sisters are busy being married to their flawless husbands and having cookie cutter children, while Charlotte remains single, childless, and every bit as mousy as she was a decade ago.

As Charlotte struggles to climb out from underneath her judgmental parents thumb, the carnival rolls back into town, and Charlotte finds herself face to face with Vin again. He's back to run his father's carnival, walking away from a promising career in medicine he started in Chicago. Will her biased and judgmental family accept her relationship with a man who is not only a Native American, but works as a carny for a living? And what unsavory secrets bind the well-educated and seemingly superlative Vin to that ramshackle carnival?

After all, you can’t judge a carny by its cover.”

Thanks again for hosting me on the blog today. If your readers would like to escape with a copy of The Carny today, here is where they can grab one: www.inkspellpublishing.com

Book Tour: Bring Me Back by Karen Booth

I’m Karen, a Midwestern girl transplanted in the South, raised on 80s music, Judy Blume, and the films of John Hughes. An early preoccupation with Rock ‘n’ Roll led me to spend my twenties working my way from intern to executive in the music industry. Much of my writing revolves around the world of backstage passes and band dynamics. My first full-length novel, “Bring Me Back”, is a story I had in my head for nearly eight years before my fingers hit the keyboard. Sleeping and eating quickly became a luxury, a plan I have since dubbed the Writer’s Diet. I channeled teenage memories of plastering my walls with posters to weave the tale of music journalist, Claire Abby, and the dreamy British rock-star crush of her youth, Christopher Penman. “Bring Me Back” is a work of women’s fiction, published by Turquoise Morning Press. When I’m not creating fictional musicians, I’m listening to everything from old-school Cheap Trick to Duran Duran to Superchunk with my kids, honing my Southern
