Laurel is the pen name for regency romance writer Amanda McCabe.

Amanda wrote her first romance at the age of sixteen--a vast historical epic starring all her friends as the characters, written secretly during algebra class (and her parents wondered why math was not her strongest subject...)

She's never since used algebra, but her books have been nominated for many awards, including the RITA Award, the Romantic Times BOOK Reviews Reviewers' Choice Award, the Booksellers Best, the National Readers Choice Award, and the Holt Medallion. She lives in Oklahoma with a menagerie of two cats, a Pug, and a very bossy miniature Poodle, along with far too many books.

When not writing or reading, she loves taking dance classes, collecting cheesy travel souvenirs, and watching the Food Network--even though she doesn't cook.

A hundred years has passed since the bitter rivalry between the St. Claire’s and the Huntington’s began. But in London, the feud goes on . . .

In this battle between enemies, passion will win.

Lady Sophia Huntington isn't what she appears to be. Born into a noble family, the impulsive, wild-hearted beauty has fallen on difficult times. Banished from her home, Sophia dreams of the day she can finally win her father's forgiveness and return to London. Until the sudden appearance of a suitor from the scandalous St. Claire family threatens to reveal her darkest secrets . . .

Dominic St. Claire vows to exact revenge upon the Huntington’s, who destroyed his family's fortune generations ago. His perfect target is the lovely but proud Lady Sophia. After using her to discover the Huntington’s financial secrets, he will cause a great scandal by eloping— and then abandoning his bride. But his plot soon unravels when he finds his own heart ensnared—in a trap not of his own making.

Excerpt:

Dominic’s hand suddenly slid from the wall to Sophia’s shoulder, where her skin was bared. His fingertips skimmed over her, the merest, lightest brush. It awoke something hot and alive inside her. “I don’t think you realize the terrible power of your smile,” he said roughly. His hand curled around her waist and drew her closer to the hard length of his body. “It’s so bright yet so full of mystery, as if you tease us with secrets we will never know.”

“I have no secrets,” Sophia whispered. She reached out to grasp his shoulders, sure she was falling. The room was dark and warm, and it seemed to be growing smaller. Narrowing in and in until there was only her and him.

“We both know that’s not true,” Dominic whispered. He leaned closer until his lips brushed her ear. She felt his warm breath against the sensitive skin of her neck, and her eyes slid closed. “I don’t want my brother mixed up in them. He’s prone to leaping into trouble when it comes to a pretty woman.”

“I’ve heard you’re not immune to trouble yourself,” Sophia said. She opened her eyes and found herself staring at the smooth skin of his chest where his shirt fell open. A crystalline bead of sweat gleamed at the hollow of his throat. As she watched it slid down, she had the most powerful urge to lean forward and trace it with her tongue, to taste him.

He seemed to sense her fantasy, because his hand tightened at her waist, and she heard him give a low, hoarse moan. “So you’ve heard gossip about me, have you?”

“Of course.” she murmured. She traced her palm lightly over his shoulder and along the lean line of his back. Under his shirt, she could feel how hard his body was and the graceful power of him as he shifted under her touch.

His lips traced the soft, vulnerable spot just below her ear, and Sophia’s fingers clutched at a handful of his shirt. “And you listen to the gossip about me?” he said. “I would have thought you above such things—Lady Sophia.”

His use of her title startled her, making a tiny touch of ice pierce the heat of her desire, but then he kissed her neck again and the cold skittered away. “Gossip is part of my business,” she said, trying desperately to think clearly again. “I need to know as much as I can about everyone.”

“Very shrewd of you,” he whispered against her skin. “And what have you learned about me?”

“How women can’t resist you,” Sophia said. She flattened her hands on his chest and tried to push him away so she could think again. She could definitely see the truth of the gossip about him now. What woman could resist his skillful touch?

She could not afford to be another of their number. Not if she wanted to get back to her family somehow…

IsobelCarr

Isobel has a BA in philosophy, with minors in history and creative writing (Hollins College) and an MFA in creative writing (San Francisco State University). Combine all that with $3.25 and you can buy a spicy chai at her favorite coffee shop. After finishing graduate school, it became painfully clear that a job in the arts wasn't going to pay enough to eat, so she set about looking for a "real" job--an international trade consultant (basically, fighting with lawyers for a living).

When she is not doing that, she is usually writing, though she very occasionally still takes a day to go to a historical re-enactment, in the name of research of course.

The League of Second Sons: A secret society of younger sons, sworn to aid and abet each other, no matter the scandal or cost...Their fathers and brothers may rule the world, but they run it, and when it comes to passion, they refuse to accept second best.

After the scandalous demise of her marriage, Lady Olivia Carlow knows the rakes of the ton will think her fair game. So when a letter arrives bearing an indecent offer from the incorrigible Roland Devere, she seizes the opportunity. Turning the tables on the notorious rogue, she blackmails him into playing her betrothed for the season. But no matter how broad his shoulders or chiseled his features, she will never fall prey to his suave charm.

When Roland boasted he'd be the first into Lady Olivia's bed, he couldn't have imagined that behind those brilliant blue eyes lurked a vixen with a scheme of her own. Still, Roland is not about to abandon his original wager. If anything, learning that the lovely Olivia is as bold as she is beautiful makes him more determined to seduce her into never saying "never" again.

Excerpt

Livy sat down on a rock beside the pool and pulled off her gloves. She dangled her fingers in the water and splashed it onto her wrists before patting damp hands on her neck. Droplets raced down her chest, disappearing into the bodice of her gown. Roland swallowed thickly as his erection grew almost painful.

“At least dip your feet in.” Roland pushed off his rock and swam back to the center of the pool. “You can’t really mean to forgo such a small pleasure? ”

Olivia eyed him as he treaded water.

“Shall I promise not to look at your naked feet? ”

She burst into laughter, shaking her head. “I’m afraid I’ll have to allow you to do a great deal more than look.”

Devere stared up at her, clearly not understanding. Yet another privilege of being male. Livy extended one foot and gestured toward it. “My stays don’t allow me to unlace my own boots.”

He struck out toward her, and Livy simply stood and stared. The water didn’t obscure much of his powerful form as it sluiced over him. Wide shoulders, arms as finely muscled as those of the laborers who scythed the lawns at Holinshed, and what she couldn’t see now, she remembered all too well from watching him greedily as he disrobed. Long legs, a taut stomach, and a member that even at rest was larger than those she’d seen depicted on ancient statues or pottery. She’d never seen her husband naked in the light as she just had Devere, but she was sure Souttar hadn’t looked anything like him.

Devere stopped at the water’s edge and reached for her, fingers dripping, skin glistening in the light. When Livy didn’t move, he propped his chin on his fist and simply watched her.

“I didn’t say I was going to let you play abigail.”

“Didn’t you?”

Livy let his question hang in the air. This was a mistake. She could feel it. But the excitement pulsing through her urged her closer to the water. Devere’s hand snaked out and wrapped around her ankle. He pulled himself partially out of the pool as he unlaced her boot. Rivulets of water ran down his back, defining every line of muscle and bone.

This was what it felt like to be wanton. She was sure of it. Her skin burnt where he touched her. The dull ache that pulsed in her womb intensified until it almost hurt. She’d never anticipated her husband’s touch the way she did Devere’s, had never wanted him to come to her so badly that her hands shook as they did now.

Devere unhooked her garter with a skillful flick of his thumb and slid her stocking down. She lifted her foot, and he pulled the length of silk free. Livy swallowed hard, ignoring the clamor of alarm that sounded dimly inside her. He might be the predator, but she still held the whip. He’d go only as far as she let him...

Book Tour: Bring Me Back by Karen Booth

I’m Karen, a Midwestern girl transplanted in the South, raised on 80s music, Judy Blume, and the films of John Hughes. An early preoccupation with Rock ‘n’ Roll led me to spend my twenties working my way from intern to executive in the music industry. Much of my writing revolves around the world of backstage passes and band dynamics. My first full-length novel, “Bring Me Back”, is a story I had in my head for nearly eight years before my fingers hit the keyboard. Sleeping and eating quickly became a luxury, a plan I have since dubbed the Writer’s Diet. I channeled teenage memories of plastering my walls with posters to weave the tale of music journalist, Claire Abby, and the dreamy British rock-star crush of her youth, Christopher Penman. “Bring Me Back” is a work of women’s fiction, published by Turquoise Morning Press. When I’m not creating fictional musicians, I’m listening to everything from old-school Cheap Trick to Duran Duran to Superchunk with my kids, honing my Southern
