Hello Laura!  Thank you for taking part in our Gods & Goddess Week!

A la Twitter style, can you describe your book (or series) in 140 characters or less.

The Supreme God of the West Wind struggles to overcome a lifetime of betrayal to find a love he can trust in the midst of escalating war.

What inspired you to write about Gods & Goddesses?

When writing book 1 in the Hearts of the Anemoi series, North of Need, I came upon the Greek mythology of the Anemoi to explain hero Owen’s background as a snow god (he’s the son and destined heir of Boreas, Supreme God of the North Wind and Winter). And that set off the idea for a series based on Greek gods, since there were four cardinal Anemoi who were brothers in the mythology. West of Want’s particular story arose from the mythology in that Zephyros was a god that suffered repeated lost love, competition for love, etc.

Quick & Easy

Day or Night?
Night
Love at First Sight or Second Chances? Love at first sight
Weres or Vamps? Pshaw! Vampires!!!
Paperbacks or Ebooks? Hmm…I read both with equal pleasure!
Past, Present or Future? Present
Reading or Writing? Hmm…I couldn’t live without either one!
Coffee or Tea? Tea
Plotter or Pantser? Pantser, although I’m being forced to get better at plotting
Reality or Fiction? Reality
Laptop or Desktop? Laptop – have laptop, will travel!
Angel or Demon? Angel
Authors Choice:  Ask the readers something! Ooh, awesome! Two questions: What do you most enjoy about reading stories about gods and goddesses? And what’s YOUR favorite paranormal creature to read about and why?

Now, something for the characters!Beckinsale as Ella

What are three qualities that would describe you?

Zephyros Martius: Tortured, Powerful, Passionate

If Hollywood optioned your story, who would you like to see play you?

Ella: Kate Beckinsale

Betrayal is all he's ever known, but in her, he'll find a love strong enough to be trusted...

When Marcella Raines' twin brother dies, she honors his request to be buried at sea, never expecting the violent storm that swamps her boat. Though she's gravely injured--and still emotionally damaged from her recent divorce--Ella fights to survive.

Zephyros Martius is the Supreme God of the West Wind and Spring, but being the strongest Anemoi hasn't protected him from betrayal and loss. Worse, he's sure his brother Eurus is behind it. When Zeph's heartbreak whips up a storm that shipwrecks a human, his guilt forces him to save her.

Ella is drawn to the vulnerability Zeph hides beneath his otherworldly masculinity and ancient blue eyes. And her honesty, empathy, and unique, calming influence leave Zeph wanting...everything. When Eurus threatens Ella, she and Zeph struggle to let go of the past, defend their future, and embrace what they most want--a love that can be trusted.

Also by Laura:

Her tears called a powerful snow god to life, but only her love can grant the humanity he craves...

Desperate to escape agonizing memories of Christmas past, twenty-nine-year-old widow Megan Snow builds a snow family outside the mountain cabin she once shared with her husband, realizing too late that she's recreated the very thing she'll never have.

Called to life by Megan's tears, snow god Owen Winters appears unconscious on her doorstep in the midst of a raging blizzard. As she nurses him to health, Owen finds unexpected solace in her company and unimagined pleasure in the warmth of her body, and vows to win her heart for a chance at humanity.

Megan is drawn to Owen's mismatched eyes, otherworldly masculinity, and enthusiasm for the littlest things. But this Christmas miracle comes with an expiration--before the snow melts and the temperature rises, Megan must let go of her widow's grief and learn to trust love again, or she'll lose Owen forever.

Coming Soon:

She's the only one who can see through his golden boy façade to the broken god within...

Chrysander Notos, Supreme God of the South Wind and Summer, is on a mission: save Eurus from his death sentence, and prove his troubled brother can be redeemed. But Eurus fights back, triggering vicious summer storms that threaten the mortal realm, dangerously drain Chrys, and earn the ire of the Olympic gods who ordered Eurus dead.

Laney Summerlyn refuses to give up her grandfather's horse farm, despite her deteriorating vision. More than ever, she needs the organized routine of her life at Summerlyn Stables, until a ferocious storm brings an impossible--and beautiful--creature crashing down from the heavens.

Injured while fighting Eurus, Chrys finds himself at the mercy of a mortal woman whose compassion and acceptance he can't resist. As they surrender to the passion flaring between them, immortal enemies close in, forcing Chrys to choose between his brother and the only woman who's ever loved the real him.

  2. Thanks for the fun post and congrats to Laura on her newest release! I love reading about mythological creatures and god/goddesses but it's so much fun to see how creative authors get.

  3. I like the myths... especially the Greek ones. I like reading about angels, vampires and shifters. Love their super powers!

  4. I like the mythology aspect. I like werewolves because they're alpha.

  5. Mythology in general fascinates me no matter what the origin is (Greek, Norse, Egyptian, Hawaiian, Irish, African...etc). It's amazing to know that their is normally a connection between myths from different cultures and the fact that these myths all seemed to originate with those common connections so it leaves some question as to how that could happen?
As far as paranormal creatures go, I like all of them but my top two supernaturals would be angels and shape shifters.

  6. Mmm. I have always loved God/Goddess stories, I even enjoyed the stories we "had to" read in school; although I mostly had already read them. Fav paranormal creature... gosh, I guess it depends on what my book of the moment is.

  7. I like reading about Gods & Goddesses because they have some great powers. I think I have forgotten most of what I learned in school though. My favorite paranormal creatures are vampires, shifters, & demons though.

  8. I like gods and goddesses because so many things can happen in the story. My favorite creature is the vampire.

  9. When I was younger my parents told me stories from mythology for bedtime. Ever since I've been in love with them. I ended up with a minor in classical studies focused on Greek and Roman Mythology (although I love all kinds of cultures).

For my favorite paranormal creature, I love the phoenix because he is in almost every major religion as a symbol of hope and rebirth.

  10. I cannot choose one paranormal creature because I like them all. I have also read about all of them.
I do love myths. I have always been fascinated with the stories that ancient cultures come up with to describe the odd/normal ocurrances around them.
Kind of the super hero phenomenon that we all like today.

  11. I love reading about them because they are so powerful, sometimes full of themselves and I always love to read they have fallen in love with a Mortal. :)
I love all paranormal characters but I have to say Fallen Angels are my top pick.

Book Tour: Bring Me Back by Karen Booth

I’m Karen, a Midwestern girl transplanted in the South, raised on 80s music, Judy Blume, and the films of John Hughes. An early preoccupation with Rock ‘n’ Roll led me to spend my twenties working my way from intern to executive in the music industry. Much of my writing revolves around the world of backstage passes and band dynamics. My first full-length novel, “Bring Me Back”, is a story I had in my head for nearly eight years before my fingers hit the keyboard. Sleeping and eating quickly became a luxury, a plan I have since dubbed the Writer’s Diet. I channeled teenage memories of plastering my walls with posters to weave the tale of music journalist, Claire Abby, and the dreamy British rock-star crush of her youth, Christopher Penman. “Bring Me Back” is a work of women’s fiction, published by Turquoise Morning Press. When I’m not creating fictional musicians, I’m listening to everything from old-school Cheap Trick to Duran Duran to Superchunk with my kids, honing my Southern
