Gods & Goddess Week: Marne Ann Kirk

GodsGoddessWeek-copy_thumb2

Welcome to Gods & Goddess Week!

This entire week is dedicated to all those wonderful books that feature Gods & Goddesses as the main characters.  We have great interviews and some awesome giveaways through out the week so make sure to check back each day with Stitch Read Cook and Ramblings from this Chick for all the fun!

Today we have the lovely MARNE ANN KIRK!

Marne Ann Kirk grew up wild, running and exploring the vast high deserts and mountains of Idaho, Montana, Utah, New Mexico and Colorado with her family as a child. She loved making up stories and, well, lied about just about everything. Thankfully, she grew out of the lying stage...now she calls it story-telling.

If she wasn't making her own adventures, she was reading. Life, and the need to eat, got in the way of writing for a time; but in 2002, Marne Ann quit the day job, became a full-time, at-home mom, and began writing for money...

Her debut novel, “Love Chosen: Book One of The Fae Dragon Chronicles,” is available now. “Love Dared: Book Two of The Fae Dragon Chronicles,” is coming soon! “Goddess on the Run,” book one of the Holy Water Warriors’ Tales, a paranormal romance series, will be available in the Summer of 2012!

And she cannot resist strong, sexy heroes...

Marne Ann has a wonderful husband (her own strong, sexy hero) who keeps her laughing, six amazing kids and now two fantabulous grandsons who rock her world and keep her on her toes. She has a Shih-Tzu, Socrates, who keeps her lap warm when she writes, and two other dogs (her kids' dogs, actually) to drive her nutty. And a cat with one tooth who keeps the mice at bay outside. She loves to write. She loves the mountains, but in a perfect world she would spend a few months a year on the beach. Preferably in Mexico or Jamaica.

Hello Marne Ann!  Thank you for taking part in our Gods & Goddess Week!

I am thrilled to hang out with you! Thank you for having me.

If you could have dinner with any author (dead or alive) who would it
be?  Why?

Edgar Allen Poe. I would love to pick his brain, find out what made him tick. His writing was disturbing, it examined the darkness hiding in the psyche, and he wrote some profound works. I want to know if he was as messed up as I think he must have been ;-)

If you were stranded on a deserted island, what 5 books would you take
with you?

The Bible, The Grimms Fairy Tales, One Thousand and One Nights, Kresley Cole's IAD series (cheating, I know), and a Kindle, so I could download all of my favorite romance authors ;-)

Quick & Easy:

Day or Night? Day
Love at First Sight or Second Chances? Love at First Sight
Weres or Vamps? Either. They're both hot, if done right...
Paperbacks or Ebooks? Paperback for the keepers.
Past, Present or Future? Present
Reading or Writing? Writing
Coffee or Tea? Coffee
Plotter or Panster? Plotter
Reality or Fiction? Fiction
Laptop or Desktop? Laptop
Angel or Demon? Demon
Authors Choice:  Ask the readers something!
I can read any paranormal, so long as the story is good. It doesn't matter to me if it's a demon, angel, god, creature, vampire, human...To me, saying the vampire has been done to death is like saying the human has been done to death. Likewise, I enjoy a fantasy romance as much as I enjoy a paranormal romance (which kind of explains why I write both genres, right?) But my question to the reader is this... what draws you to a new author? What makes an author stand out for you, makes you want to initially take that chance with a new author? And if you get hooked with an author, are you willing to venture into areas you don't usually read, or do you simply want more of the genre you like? (I hope I'm making sense, lol. I do appreciate your answers so much.)

Now, for the characters…

What are three qualities that would describe you?

Teagan: I don't know...I'm independent
Merric: Or stubborn...
Teagan: I have a quirky sense of humor.
Merric: She's a smartass, but I love it.
Teagan: I like to help others.
Merric: She's a bleeding heart.

What initially drew you to your partner/spouse?

Teagan: When this warrior fights? Holy Batman, Robin. He is phenomenal. What a hottie. Yeah, it was totally physical. He was kinda a jerk when we first met, I'm not gonna lie. He thought he had all the control. I put him in his place pretty quick, though.
Merric: (rubbing his chest) Yes, she did.

If Hollywood optioned your story, who would you like to see play you?

Merric: No one could play Teagan. There is no one her equal.
Teagan: Aww...You are so sweet, baby...

All Fomorian Hells are about to break loose on earth, making human souls the daily special, if the Tuatha de Danaan can’t stop it.

Teagan, a Celtic demi-goddess hiding from her destiny in small-town Colorado, wants nothing to do with her mother’s forgotten realm or the drama of a battle of the gods. And Merric is forbidden fruit she’s too smart to taste.

Merric, leader of the Tuatha de Danaan warriors, has other plans. Teagan holds the key to salvation, for both him and their worlds, whether she wants to or not. He’ll do whatever it takes to convince her of her duty.

But can he find the key to her heart?

  1. thanks for the fun post and congrats to Marne on the new release. It's posts like these that help me discover new authors! And like Marne, I'm game for pretty much anything that any author wants to try. I'm looking for a good story, and I think that sometimes by only reading certain tropes or types, I feel like the the stories lose some originality and creativity. I want to be blown away by new worlds, new creatures or entirely new spins on old/well worn tropes/types.

  2. Erin,
Thank you for hanging out with us today, and thanks for your response. I totally agree, as a reader, and it's nice to know others feel the same (especially since as an author, I hop, lol...)
Good luck with the contest! I hope you pick up and enjoy my books.

    1. Dione,
Thanks! I enjoy playing with the characters and researching Celtic mythology. It's all such fun. I do hope you pick it up and enjoy it as much as I loved writing it!

  4. A lot of my recent reads have been recommended by my book club. We started up last year and I have added SO many new authors, I have a TBR list the size of a mountain LOL However, I'm open to any genre. I'm just looking for a good story. I would say covers help a lot because if they catch my eye then I'm likely to give the book cover a read to find out about it. I've also started reading a lot of authors due to "free" books being posted on Kindle. I've found some really good authors, loved the story so much, that I've turned around and bought the whole series. I don't just read books, I consume books, so anything that can catch my eye or interest me is all good. I also give authors/books a look if one of my fave authors read them.

  6. I am also attracted first to the blurb and also a cover has been known to draw me in.
If I like an Author's work then I'm going to keep going back.

Book Tour: Bring Me Back by Karen Booth

I’m Karen, a Midwestern girl transplanted in the South, raised on 80s music, Judy Blume, and the films of John Hughes. An early preoccupation with Rock ‘n’ Roll led me to spend my twenties working my way from intern to executive in the music industry. Much of my writing revolves around the world of backstage passes and band dynamics. My first full-length novel, “Bring Me Back”, is a story I had in my head for nearly eight years before my fingers hit the keyboard. Sleeping and eating quickly became a luxury, a plan I have since dubbed the Writer’s Diet. I channeled teenage memories of plastering my walls with posters to weave the tale of music journalist, Claire Abby, and the dreamy British rock-star crush of her youth, Christopher Penman. “Bring Me Back” is a work of women’s fiction, published by Turquoise Morning Press. When I’m not creating fictional musicians, I’m listening to everything from old-school Cheap Trick to Duran Duran to Superchunk with my kids, honing my Southern
