Romance Week: Cynthia Garner Interview & Giveaway!

Welcome to Romance Week!

Today I have the wonderful Cynthia Garner and Chrystal @ Snowdrop Dreams of Books has the equally amazing Rachel Harris!

Welcome Cynthia!

Cynthia Garner

Cynthia Garner discovered her love for writing when her sixth grade teacher told the class to write a story that began "It was a dark and stormy night..." With that Cynthia's love for all things paranormal was born.

When she's not working her day job as a mostly mild-mannered Human Resources Manager, she's on her laptop writing or playing way too much Solitaire. Originally from Northeast Ohio, Cynthia now lives in the desert Southwest.

Hello Cynthia!  Thank you for participating in our 3rd annual Romance Week!

What drew you to writing Romance to begin with?

I love to read romance, so when I decided to try my hand at fiction writing, it was natural to write what I love to read.

What is a typical “day” in your writing life?

I basically have two full-time jobs--my day job as a Human Resources Manager and my writing job. My alarm goes off at 5:00 a.m. M-F and I usually manage to drag myself out of bed after hitting the snooze only twice. Often three times. Occasionally four times. I'm at work between 7:00 and 7:30 and leave at 3:00. I may run errands, do grocery shopping, etc., and am usually home by 4:30 or 5:00. Then it's firing up the laptop, checking email and social networking sites, then fixing dinner. Usually by 6:00 I'm working on writing--either editing, writing, or plotting/creating. I usually stop  by about 8:00 or 9:00 because my brain isn't working so well by that point. I get a lot of my writing done on the weekends, where I'll put in at least 8 hours each day. I drink a lot of water and iced tea when I'm working, so there are frequent breaks for, you know. Empty myself of liquids so I can get more liquids to drink.

What 2 authors are you dying to write an anthology with?

Oh, wow. There are so, so many! Hmm. Right now I'll go with Larissa Ione and J.R. Ward.

If you could hop into any romance novel, what would it be?

This is a hard one, too! Honestly, I'm stumped. I'm not all that adventurous--I leave that up to my heroines!

If you were stranded on an island, what 5 books would you take with you?

The Complete Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle; Moondust and Madness by Janelle Taylor; Dracula by Bram Stoker; any of The Breeds series by Lora Leigh; and How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks.

Quick & Easy:

1.  Book or E-book?
  Book
2.  Day or Night?  Day
3.  Coffee or Tea?  Tea
4.  Plotter or Panster? Plotter
5.  Dark or Milk Chocolate? Milk
6.  Wallflower or Belle of the Ball?  Wallflower
7.  Laptop or Desktop?  Laptop
8.  Love at first sight or Second chances?  Second chances

Great titles by Cynthia Garner:

The next opening of the rift is coming-and its consequences will be deadly. A rogue group of human-hating preternaturals is planning an apocalyptic attack, but the Council of Preternaturals may have found the key to saving the world: Keira O’Brien, a fey with a long criminal record, whose empathic abilities once made her the queen of con artists. If she successfully infiltrates the dangerous faction, the sins of her past will be forgiven.

Keira isn’t the only agent working against the rogue prets. Finn Evnissyen, a powerful demon with a dark lineage, is a hired assassin looking for a way out. If he stops the threat, he will finally earn his freedom. As the rift fast approaches, and danger escalates, Finn and Keira must discover if they’re on the same side-or sleeping with the enemy . . .

Also, I have three dragon shifter novellas under my pen name Sherrill Quinn, available at Amazon or AmberHeat.com.

  8. I am still sampling the paranormal genre. There is so much wonderful diversity. So far, I would have to say I like shifters the best. To become something entirely different from your human form is intriguing.

Book Tour: Bring Me Back by Karen Booth

I’m Karen, a Midwestern girl transplanted in the South, raised on 80s music, Judy Blume, and the films of John Hughes. An early preoccupation with Rock ‘n’ Roll led me to spend my twenties working my way from intern to executive in the music industry. Much of my writing revolves around the world of backstage passes and band dynamics. My first full-length novel, “Bring Me Back”, is a story I had in my head for nearly eight years before my fingers hit the keyboard. Sleeping and eating quickly became a luxury, a plan I have since dubbed the Writer’s Diet. I channeled teenage memories of plastering my walls with posters to weave the tale of music journalist, Claire Abby, and the dreamy British rock-star crush of her youth, Christopher Penman. “Bring Me Back” is a work of women’s fiction, published by Turquoise Morning Press. When I’m not creating fictional musicians, I’m listening to everything from old-school Cheap Trick to Duran Duran to Superchunk with my kids, honing my Southern
